The Kedartal Trek in Uttarakhand, India, is an extraordinary and
spiritually significant journey that takes you to the pristine glacial
lake of Kedartal, nestled amidst the majestic Himalayan peaks.
Situated at an altitude of 4,750 meters, this trek is a challenging
yet rewarding experience for trekkers seeking adventure and a
connection with the divine.
Starting from the holy town of Gangotri, the trek follows a steep
and rugged trail that leads you through dense forests, lush
meadows, and high-altitude landscapes. As you ascend higher, you'll be surrounded by towering peaks, including Thalay Sagar, Jogin Group, and the magnificent Mt. Shivling.
The highlight of the Kedartal Trek is reaching the pristine Kedartal Lake, which is believed to be Lord Shiva's own lake, according to Hindu mythology. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and glaciers, the emerald-green lake is a sight to behold and offers a serene and meditative ambiance.
Throughout the trek, you'll witness breathtaking vistas, including cascading waterfalls, glacial streams, and alpine meadows teeming with vibrant flowers. The trek also provides opportunities to encounter the rich wildlife of the region, such as Bharal (Himalayan blue sheep) and various bird species.
The best time to undertake the Kedartal Trek is during the summer months of May to June and the autumn months of September to October. The weather during these periods is relatively stable, with clear skies and favorable trekking conditions. It is recommended to have prior trekking experience and be physically fit to tackle the challenging terrain.
You have to reach Gangotri either from Dehradun or Rishikesh. From Gangotri onwards, you will be meeting our trek guides and hence forth you will be moving forward in the trek with them.
Tata sumo traveler vehicles are available at both Dehradun and rishikesh and the charges are minimal. A part from those buses are also available to Gangotri which will lead you from both Dehradun and Rishikesh.
