The Nandanvan Trek in Uttarakhand, India, is an exhilarating and
captivating trekking experience that takes you deep into the
heart of the high Himalayas. Situated in the Garhwal region, this
trek is a perfect blend of adventure, scenic beauty, and spiritual
significance.
Starting from the holy town of Gangotri, the trek follows a
challenging trail that ascends through rugged terrain, pristine
forests, and picturesque valleys. As you ascend higher, you
leave behind the tree line and enter the realm of alpine meadows and rocky landscapes.
The highlight of the Nandanvan Trek is reaching the enchanting meadow of Nandanvan, situated at the base of the majestic Bhagirathi peaks. Nandanvan, which translates to "the garden of the gods," is a vast expanse of meadows adorned with vibrant flowers, surrounded by towering peaks and glaciers. The sight of the Bhagirathi massif reflecting in the crystal-clear waters of the Gangotri Glacier is truly awe-inspiring.
Along the trek, you'll witness the magnificence of nature, from gushing waterfalls and meandering streams to the rugged beauty of the Himalayan terrain. The trek also offers opportunities to encounter the rich wildlife of the region, including Bharal (Himalayan blue sheep), snow leopards, and a variety of bird species.
The best time to undertake the Nandanvan Trek is during the summer months of May to June and the autumn months of September to October. The weather during these periods is relatively stable, providing clear views of the surrounding peaks and favorable trekking conditions.
You have to reach Gangotri either from Dehradun or Rishikesh. From Gangotri onwards, you will be meeting our trek guides and hence forth you will be moving forward in the trek with them.
Tata sumo traveler vehicles are available at both Dehradun and rishikesh and the charges are minimal. A part from those buses are also available to Gangotri which will lead you from both Dehradun and Rishikesh.
